Welcome Leaders!

Hey leaders! Welcome to Bento - we are happy to see you here! Below is all the information and guides you need to run your workshop! Keep in mind the requirements on the homepage, they apply to clubs too!

Presentation + Guide!

Below is a button to our canva slideshow and google doc which you can copy and edit, or use as is with your club!

Core Requirements

The Dividers

A key part of your Bento Box! When you create your project, this is one of the requirements. You need to divide your project into 3 pages, creating dividers - hence the name of this requirement!

One of these cards must be a Welcome page! This is a different requirement, called The Lid, which you can read more about on the other requirement card!

For the other two cards - it's up to you! If you're making a blog, maybe one page is for your blog posts and the other is for your about page! If you are making a recipe tracker, maybe one page could be your recipes and the other could be your top tips when cooking and baking! You have creative freedom here!

For Clubs

The Lid

As mentioned in the Dividers requirement, one of your pages must be a welcome page!

Like before, you have creative freedom here! It could be as simple as a welcome message with a button to open the rest of the project, or it could be more complex, with a logo on the page (more about logos later).

The Chopsticks

What would you do if you had 3 - amazing - pages, but no way to get between them! You would be stuck!

So, in Bento, one of our requirements is to have a way to navigate between your different pages. This could be extremely simple, like buttons at the end of the page, or for an extra challenge, we really recommend you create a navigation bar! Again, this can be as simple or advanced as you want it to be!

Bonus Features

Content

For this - you need to make some content for your project! Again, this is completely optional, but if you do make some content, you can get extra coins!

However, if you want to qualify for this bonus, you must have used Hackatime to track your project. This helps reviewers see how much time you spend coding and allows us to reward you for your extra work.

To qualify, you need to make 2 extra pieces of content! This includes, but isn't limited to: 2 images with descriptions, 2 recipes, 2 blog posts, 2 quick guides, 2 books - and anything else you can think of! Content can also be extra features, like using JavaScript to animate your site, or adding extra pages!

Hackatime is required, even though it's optional for the rest of your club's submission, to qualify for the content bonus.

Logo

Bento YSWS Logo

Create a logo like this logo for your project. Your design must:

Be made in Figma and be original (you can still use guides)

We recommend using the guide located on anchor.hackclub.com - or here but you can make it with another guide, or completely made by you!

Like before - but especially here - we want you to have creative freedom. But we also want to make sure your logo doesn't take too long to make and clearly represents what your project does!

You should either host the image on Hack Club CDN or upload it to the repo's assets folder!
